The Latroun Olive Grove
The Monks of Latroun Abbey
The Abbey of Latroun is a Cistercian monastery in the Holy Land, under the protection of the French state since 1890. It belongs to the male branch of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance, better known by its former name, the Trappists — a contemplative religious order of the Roman Catholic Church.
Located 15 km west of Jerusalem, on the border between Israel and the West Bank, the monastery occupies a site of strategic and historical importance. Latroun was founded in 1890 by the Abbey of Sept-Fons.

Brother M.-Martin
Project leader and chief caretaker of Latroun’s olive trees, Brother M. Martin is the savior of the 4,000 olive trees that survived the fire. He oversees pruning, maintenance, and irrigation across the property.

Father M.-Aloïs
Father Aloïs is the cellarer of Latroun Abbey. As the person in charge of the monastery’s entire economy, he witnessed firsthand the financial impact of the fire. He also manages all of Latroun’s vineyards.

Father M.-Daniel
As project manager and administrator of the abbey, Father Daniel knows when to say “yes” or “no” to a project. He is highly motivated by the olive tree sponsorship program, seeing it as a way to restore the exceptional environment surrounding the monastery.

Brother M.-Athanase
Brother M. Athanase is the monk speaking here. Responsible for communication and project funding, he is your point of contact for any questions.
